After six years of being lost in the legal woods, the acclaimed 2009 debut album by Brendan Welch is being released on vinyl for the first time ever this September through Heart of the Rat Records!

Following Brendan’s first two EPs, The Unbeat (2005) and That Ghost (2007), The Gleaner, produced by Something For Kate frontman Paul Dempsey, showcased songs he penned in Northcote, New York City and Nashville, and while touring Australia supporting Paul Kelly.

The Gleaner was named one of the year’s top 10 releases by The Age’s influential EG magazine in 2009. Shortly after, Brendan parted ways with his label and management and promptly disappeared from the scene. The years since have blown past with low-key gigging and constant writing.

Josh Pyke has called his songs “classic, familiar, brand new.” Paul Dempsey says “to this day it is one of the most enjoyable studio experiences I’ve had, and the album still holds a very special place in my heart.”

Tracklisting:

Side A
1. Think I Always Thought (I’d Fall In Love With You)
2. Oh No! (I’m Wasting Away)
